MOSSEL BAY NEWS - There is a saying, "Charity begins at home", and the Mossel Bay Advertiser Oliver Twist community project adheres to that.
Thanks to the support of ReedValley, the Oliver Twist project will this year raise much-needed funds to support the Mossel Bay Surf Lifesaving Club and on a larger scale, the whole community of Mossel Bay as well as our yearly holiday makers.
With thousands of locals as well as holiday makers visiting our beaches every year, it is collateral damage if only one life is in danger, whether at sea or on the beaches.
The Mossel Bay Surf Lifesaving club, which forms part of Eden Lifesaving, serves the community with the primary function of professional, voluntary lifesaving at beaches and other aquatic facilities. In supporting the Mossel Bay Surf Lifesaving Club, which aims to keep our beaches safe and prevent loss of life as far as is reasonably possible, the urgent need for a lifesaving chair needs to be addressed. This chair costs R90 000 as it needs to be built to specifications, a huge outlay for the municipality.
Therefore, the Oliver Twist community project, in conjunction with ReedValley, will host an Annual Winter Charity Event on 3 August at ReedValley at R300 per person. It will include live entertainment by Lonesome Rangers, an auction and a three-course meal.
