MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Investigating officers from the Da Gamaskop police, constables Nelly Manyonta and Thami Canda, succeeded in putting a 50-year-old man behind bars following a fatal stabbing in Ruiterbos.
The deceased, also a 50-year-old man, Stoffel Kamfer, was stabbed in the neck with a broken bottle by his assailant, Andrew George Kiewiet, on 5 November 2016, following an altercation.
An 11-year-old boy witnessed the crime, which was committed at 15:00 in Main Street, Ruiterbos.
After being stabbed on the left side of his neck by Kiewiet, Kamfer managed to walk a few steps before he sank to the ground.
He was declared dead on the scene. Kamfer was sentenced in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court to five years' imprisonment for manslaughter.
