MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Networking is usually fun and can be seen as a meeting with benefits.
However, when Algoa FM opted to treat members of the Mossel Bay Business Chamber and other interested parties at Pinnacle Point recently, no one was expecting such a treat indeed.
From gourmet food, paired with export quality wines and even a gift bag to take home, Algoa FM pulled out all the stops to create an evening to remember.
From the outset the guests were treated to a drink of their own choice and then they were escorted to the venue, where the placing of tables with an array of glasses set the scene for something completely different.
The new chairman Albert Wiffen welcomed the guests in his own dry manner and after introducing a number of new members he opened the floor to Alfie Jay, managing director of Algoa FM.
He had the audience in stitches with some of his stories relating to 35 years of Algoa FM. According to Alfie the radio station is happy to be part of the Garden Route and at present is looking to broaden its footprint in this area. As the "best commercial radio station", an accolade bestowed on it a number of times, it is eager to meet the locals and to interact.
ReedValley, just off the N2 and on the way to Herbertsdale, presented its chef, Michelle de Jager and she introduced some of the wines to match the delicious food served. Michelle, who is the owner of Succulent Eatery at ReedValley, has an outstanding knowledge of wine and the pairing thereof with food and other products. It was a pleasant pour, sniff and taste affair, with everyone expressing their own view on what they tasted in the wine.
To top it all everyone received a gift of a wine cooler with a taste cup and cutlery set from Angelique du Plessis, an accounts executive in the Southern Cape and her team.
Definitely an evening to remember.
The next chamber networking evening is scheduled for 22 June at Curro Mossel Bay Independent School.
