MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Winter is here and the needs of underprivileged people in the community are becoming more and more pronounced as it gets colder.
Hence, members of the Mossel Bay Round Table are hosting their annual local Winter Knights project on Saturday, 20 June at the tidal pool at the Point.
"Our theme this year is 'Funny Dress' and we invite the community to come and support us from 17:00 onwards until we do our Polar Plunge in the tidal pool at 20:00," says Frans du Plessis, the project coordinator.
According to Du Plessis, their greatest need for this year's project is for donated clothes and blankets. Seven attractive prizes are up for grabs in the lucky draw that will also be presented on the night.
The top three prizes include a weekend break for two at the Far Hills Hotel outside George, a Defy tumbledryer and a 950W inverter.
Tickets are on sale at R30, which buys you a little plastic duck with a number. These ducks will be released into the tidal pool prior to the Polar Plunge, during which the chairperson of the Round Table will draw the seven lucky numbers.
"We would like to challenge the police, traffic department, Mossel Bay Fire and Rescue and other public servants to literally take the plunge with us on 20 June," invites Du Plessis.
