GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Senior inspector Salomé Bruyns of the Garden Route SPCA has issued a warning to dog owners that the number of dogs being stolen on the Garden Route has risen sharply lately.
"In the past two weeks a Boxer, a Boerboel and a Yorkie have been stolen in the Garden Route area.
"Pet owners are urged to keep their dogs safely behind locked gates during the day and indoors at night," said Bruyns.
"If your dog goes missing you must open a case of theft at the police and let the SPCA know. If possible, hand in a photo of your dog to the SPCA in case we find it," Bruyns said.
