MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Over the past few days, Mossel Bay has certainly lived up to its now official image of being iconic.
The tourism office launched a new publicity campaign, Iconic Mossel Bay, in August.
This week the tourism office celebrated its 20th anniversary.
On Saturday, 24 September, the Iconic Heritage Tunnel was formally opened. This consists of 84 panels of mosaic artworks in a tunnel leading to the beach at Pinnacle Point.
The Mossel Bay Race, South Africa's oldest ocean yacht race, started on Thursday, 30 September. The annual two-day challenge, 210 nautical miles, starts at False Bay and ends in Mossel Bay.
Another iconic occurrence was the free rides on a steam locomotive on Heritage Day, Saturday 24 September.

The restored Spoornet train, Amanda, did four round trips from Hartenbos to Great Brak that day. There was huge excitement in Mossel Bay about the opportunity.
