Home Affairs staff available at hospitals for birth registration

During the next two weekends all hospitals will be capacitated with Home Affairs staff from 08:00 to15:00 to assist with the registration of births.

MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Department of Home Affairs in a press announcement yesterday, 12 March said that all babies born from mid-February and mid-March and still not yet registered, must be registered within 30 days from birth to avoid stringent measure by the Department. 

All parents must register their new born babies at any Home Affairs office their choice or health fa'cility where the child was born. 

Those not registering their babies within 30 days will be in contravention of the Birth and Death Registration Act. 

To this end, the Department decided that during the next two weekends that all hospitals will be capacitated with Home Affairs staff from 08:00 to 15:00 to assist with the registration of births.
