MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Funds have been raised for Beta @ Home, an assisted living facility for the aged and the infirm, in Mossel Bay.
The money was raised via the 36ONE MTB Challenge.
The end goal with the fundraising is to purchase a bus, so residents can be taken on outings to brighten up their lives. Some residents do not have family members who are able to take them out.
Mossel Bay's Kobus Basson was the main organiser of the fundraising drive. His brother, Coenie, had a stroke, and is a resident at Beta @ Home.
Coenie is one of the fortunate ones at the Beta @ Home, whose family are in a position to take him out and spend time with him.
Sister Annemie Moggee, a registered nurse at Beta @ Home, said: "The purpose of the fundraising drive was also to raise awareness about people who have had strokes."
She said R9 000 had been raised through the MTB Challenge and funds were also expected from a benefactor in Texas in the United States.
Sister Moggee said: "We are extremely grateful to Kobus Basson for his contribution."
Beta @ Home is in Island View.
If you are able to assist with fundraising for a bus or with transport, contact Sister Moggee (079 117 2193).
