MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Rochelle van Straaten (19) of Hartenbos won four medals at the South African Championships of the Performing Arts (SACOPA), which took place in Rustenberg from 30 September to 8 October.
She did five monologues and a singing number.
The medals she won were three silvers and one bronze.
Rochelle has also done a Zoom audition for iPOP! an event which promotes emerging talent to leading agents, managers, casting directors and music industry professionals. It is held in Los Angeles in January and July and she was accepted for the competition.
This week Rochelle sent in three monologues for a Netflix series.
She says: "I am a waitress and wine consultant." She moved to Mossel Bay in 2019.
"I'm mostly self-taught. I had drama as a subject in primary school and in senior school, I joined a drama club."
Rochelle attends acting workshops and has coaching with actors to fine-tune her skills.
