MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Children from the Unique Musik music school have done tremendously well at the Mossel Bay Eisteddfod.
Leon Barnard, owner of the school, gives the children guitar lessons. Ten children from Unique Musik competed in the eisteddfod this year, compared with four from the school last year. Last year two A-pluses were achieved.
This year the children attained nine A-pluses, seven A-golds, one A-silver and two Bs.
Barnard says he thinks the children do so well because he is able to relate to them on their level and make lessons suitable for them, no matter their age. For example, one of his students is only six years old. "Also, lessons take place in children's homes, while the parents are there, so the parents are responsible and interested in the lessons too," Barnard says. He also offers ukulele lessons.
