Update

EDEN DISTRICT NEWS - The latest fire update, supplied by Eden District Municipality:

In Mooihoek, Oudtshoorn there is an active fire on the mountain ridge in the Moordkuils area. 

Mopping up is taking place in the Mooihoek farm area.

Planned Actions: Widening of hiking trail to the east of active fireline in Moordkuils to utilise as an anchoring point for extinguishing.

1 Working on Fire (WOF) team and a skid unit of CapeNature in operation currently.

At 12:00 today, one more WOF team entered the area to intensify efforts to extinguish the active fire line.

Intensive mopping up operations continuing in Mooihoek area.

Infrastructure: No.
Evacuations: No.
Livestock: Yes, but not in any danger currently.

Weather conditions: moderate (low wind speed and moderate temperature). South/southeasterly wind direction currently.

There is a possible risk that the fire may spread to Jonkersberg plantation if a sudden and drastic wind change and speed occur.

Aerial Resources: No
