MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Imekhaya Primary School bids farewell to principal Winnifred Nokulunga Gwe.
She started her education career in 1983. She became the first woman principal in Mossel bay in 2008.
A spokesperson for the school says: "She has been an inspiration, a mother, a motivator and a counsellor to many learners, parents and educators.
"Her years of service do not go unrecognised. She has worked excellently in transforming Imekhaya Primary School into the formidable school it is today.
"Friday, 23 April was her last day. It was a sad day filled with so many emotions. She contributed almost two thirds of her life to education. Her goal was to see the innovation of e-learning for the children."
The governing body of the school is looking for assistance for one of the SGB members employed by the school, Pastor Kenny, who has been of assistance to the school in e-learning and information technology, assisting academically and administratively.
Due to a lack of funds, the school has to let him go after he has been with the school for more than eight years. The SGB did not raise any money due to Covid-19 last year and this year. The spokesperson says: "We urge any donors to the school to help us because he is an asset we cannot lose. Call 084 646 5233 or 044 693 1255 to assist.
"We wish Mrs Gwe all the best in her new chapter of her life. We will forever love you. Thank you for your contribution and God bless you. From all the staff of Imekhaya."
