MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The De Nobrega and Terblanche families have reason to celebrate this year.
These well-known, longstanding Mossel Bay residents, who own Gastao's Quality Foods in town, are celebrating Rita Terblanche's turning 90 years old this year and the fact that young Brendan de Nobrega is following in his late grandfather's footsteps.
Brendan is a member of the Mossel Bay Junior Town Council and his granddad, John Louis (Shorty) Terblanche, was on the Mossel Bay Town Council.
Rita, who celebrated her 90th birthday in June, is the widow of Shorty Terblanche.
Shorty was highly involved in public administration in Mossel Bay. He served on the harbour advisory board and the state hospital board, among other duties.
Young Brendan attends school at Curro Mossel Bay. He was among 12 learners from Curro selected to attended the Ambassador Leadership Summit at Harvard Law School in the United States in 2018.
