GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Birding enthusiasts along the Garden Route are in for a real treat next week.
The SANParks Honorary Rangers Wilderness invites all those interested in our feathered friends to join them for their annual birding experience which will be held from 19-20 December at the Wilderness National Park.
The renowned Peter Ginn, a birding expert, photographer of over 450 bird species and well-known author of the new book The Ultimate Companion for Birding in South Africa, will present informative talks for young and old, on local birds and give handy tips on how to identify birds in the Wilderness region.
The event will also include a display of photographs and museum specimens of birds.
Local birding experts and professional guides will accompany participants on outings to the Pied Kingfisher trail, Rondevlei bird hide and a visit to the Reflections Eco- Reserve farm.
The Birds for Kids event hosted during the experience includes a short talk by Peter Ginn, a walk around the Wilderness National Park which is followed by a fun event with birds as the theme.
The daily programme starts at Loerie Nest (opposite the Park reception), commencing from 07:30 for 08:00 on both Tuesday, 19 December and Wednesday, 20 December.
"Remember to bring your binoculars and bird books."
The cost is SANParks daily conservation fee, plus a donation.
