MOSSEL BAY NEWSFLASH - The finest high school speakers of the Southern Cape and Karoo are fine tuning their speeches in the hopes of walking away with the laurels for top orators in the region.
The winners will be determined on 27 September at the seventh Museum Gala Speech Evening for high school learners at the Bartolomeu Dias Museum in Mossel Bay.
The event starts at 18:30.
The three museums working together to hold this competition are the Bartolomeu Dias, George and CP Nel museums.
This event also commemorates Heritage Month, with all the speech topics emphasising the appreciation of heritage and the importance of museums in modern day society.
Leading up to the gala event, each museum hosted its own speech evening and the top five speakers from each museum event qualified to participate in the final.
The finalists are in grade 10 or 11, with English as a second additional language. Huge cash prizes are up for grabs, making the competition all the more interesting.
