MOSSEL BAY NEWS - As part of the Ironman 70.3 competition on Sunday, competitors will run through the harbour recreational area for the 21.1 kilometre race.
Transnet National Port Authority noted in a media release yesterday that this "grants the port an opportunity to showcase its tourism and leisure offerings".
It noted: "Spectators will be spoilt for choice with an array of restaurants as well as waterside and landside activities at the port’s leisure precinct.
"The port of Mossel Bay plays a catalytic role in sustaining the Southern Cape economy through tourism-boosting activities and strategic partnerships that position the region as a tourist destination of choice."
There are a number of restaurants to choose from in the recreational area of the harbour. One accesses the restaurant area of the harbour by driving down Church Street in the town centre.
The street, with the Tourism Office on the right hand side and the Protea Hotel on the left, continues straight down to the harbour.
One turns left to find the restaurants. Pop down to the recreational area of the harbour today or on Sunday and enjoy a relaxing meal at the water's edge.
Also available, are leisure sailing and boat rides in the bay. These can also be booked and paid for at the recreation area at the port, where the restaurants are.
