MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A drive-by memorial is being held tomorrow, Thursday 22 July, for The Haven Night Shelter manager Piet Maree, who passed away from Covid-19 this week.
The drive-by will take place at 15:00 and pass by The Haven, at 3 Matfield Street in the Mossel Bay town centre.
Any donations or tokens of appreciation will all go to Piet’s wife, Hanli.
Because only limited numbers of people are allowed at funerals during lockdown level 4, it was decided to give people who knew Piet the opportunity to honour him.
The drive-by has been organised by The Haven and the Department of Education. Piet was a former school principal.
Personnel from The Haven and the Department of Education ask that people spread the message about the drive-by so that people know about it and have the opportunity to participate.
It is planned the drive-by will proceed up Matfield Street from Pep Stores (in Marsh Street) and people can exit via Matfield Street at the old Shoprite building (right hand side) or via Montagu Street.
