MOSSEL BAY NEWS - This year was the thirteenth consecutive year that the Bartolomeu Dias Museum organised and hosted this unique speech contest for high school learners studying English as a first Additional Language. This event took place on 18 May.
This event is used to select the best five learner speakers from the Mossel Bay area to participate at the Gala museum Speech Contest on 27 September.
This year it will be hosted by the George Museum.
CP Nel Museum (Oudtshoorn), George Museum and Dias Museum each host their own individual Speech contests and select their finalists. All of these finalists will then speak at the Gala Contest to decide who the best speaker of the Southern Cape will be. The best three speakers will then qualify to take part in the provincial contest at Worcester Museum in October.
The Mossel Bay High schools that took part were Point, Sao Bras, Curro, Indwe, Garden Route, Hillcrest and Great Brak Secondary School.
The five qualifiers were:
- First place: Marsha Walker - Curro Mossel Bay

The two runner-up speakers who also qualify for the Gala Contest are:
