SOUTHERN CAPE NEWS - The last day for applications for 2020 school enrolment for all public schools in the Western Cape is this Friday, 15 March.
Parents and caregivers are encouraged to apply and not wait until the very last minute. They are also encouraged to apply to at least three schools, including their closest school.
"I urge all parents to take their responsibility of enrolling their child in a school very seriously and I am hopeful that the majority of parents will heed our call to do so," Western Cape MEC of Education, Minister Debbie Schäfer said.
The following documents are required:
- Birth Certificate
- Immunisation card
- A transfer card/letter (if moving schools within or outside the province)
- The last school report card for learners who have been to school
- A study permit issued by Home Affairs (if a foreign learner)
The school may require additional information, depending on its admissions policy. Parents are advised to contact the school beforehand or visit the school website to check its admission policy and the documents required.
Parents will be notified of the outcome of their application on 7 June and must then confirm their final decision by 12 July.
Parents who have not found a place for their child should contact the Eden and Central Karoo District office: Albie Ellman (044 803 8300, 044 803 8309 or Albie.Ellman@westerncape.gov.za
