MOSSEL BAY NEWS - "We must support women who decide to take up opportunities to lead," says East Regional Democratic Alliance Women's Network (DAWN) chair Venolea Fortuin, who is also an executive councillor of the Mossel Bay Mayoral Council.
This past weekend the DAWN in the East Region hosted a DAWN introductory workshop.
The session spoke to the critical role of women ahead of the 2019 Elections and the announcement by the DA that applications to become a candidate for the 2019 elections had opened.
"Following the successful workshop, I want to urge women from all sectors to take up this opportunity.
South Africa has a history of formidable female leaders who have paved the way for women to take up leadership positions. Our country continues to inspire hope by the calibre of female leaders today.
However, it is important that we are represented on all platforms and that the issues women face are heard.
"I urge all women in the East region to grab this opportunity to represent the DA in the 2019 election.
"I am committing myself to ensuring I advocate and ensure that as many female leaders as possible also get access to opportunities to grow and develop themselves.
"The very first step is to apply," Fortuin said.
