GARDEN ROUTE DISTRICT NEWS - The Garden Route district has recorded 2 166 coronavirus cases as of Wednesday 8 July, of whom 874 have recovered. 

The district has recorded 45 Covid-19-related deaths.

A total of 79 Covid-19 patients are in hospital (both private and public) in the district, of whom 13 were in ICU.

* Bitou 133 (49 recoveries, 4 deaths)
* Knysna 315 (142 recoveries, 9 deaths)

* Hessequa 34 (20 recoveries, 1 death)
* Oudtshoorn 165 (44 recoveries, 2 deaths)
* Kannaland 20 (10 recoveries, no deaths)

Western Cape
The Western Cape province has recorded 72 808 Covid-19 cases, with 2 177 deaths and 53 881 recoveries.

Western Cape premier, Alan Winde, is in self-isolation after testing positive for the virus. He has mild flu-like symptoms. Read more here.
