MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay Municipality is about to embark on the upgrade of the KwaNonqaba Waste Transfer Station.
This will necessitate the closure of the facility from Monday, 14 October. The upgraded site will re-open on 1 June 2020.
The upgrade is intended to provide for more waste streams for disposal and transfer. Also, it will help deter the illegal and unauthorised dumping of waste that will contribute to the protection of the environment.
Furthermore, the work is necessary to ensure that the municipality complies with the prescripts of the licence condition for the KwaNonqaba Transfer Station. The improved facility will also facilitate waste minimisation and further processing of waste. General waste and bulky waste may be disposed of at the Louis Fourie Waste Disposal Facility. Any e-waste, household hazardous waste and used car oil must be disposed of at the Sonskynvallei Waste Transfer Station. Builders' rubble must be disposed of at the Great Brak River Waste Disposal Facility.
The municipality apologises for the inconvenience. Contact the Solid Waste Department (044 606 5143) for more information.
