MOSSEL BAY NEWS - At Mossel Bay's Provincial Hospital three babies were born on Christmas day and two babies on New Year's Day.
In the other hospital in town, Life Bay View Private Hospital, one baby was born on New Year's Day. No babies were born there on Christmas day.
The Mossel Bay Advertiser chatted to happy parents after their baby's birth.
Ntomboxolo Sibhozo said: "My baby girl's name is Zozibini and her second name, Zamavundla.
"She was born at Life Bay View Hospital. It's my fourth baby. It all went fine. She was born at 08:00 on 1 January. I am very happy with the care we received there. It went smoothly. Interestingly, I have a son born on 2 January 2014. Zozibini weighed 4.08kg at birth. Paris Sibhozo, Zozibini's dad, is delighted at the birth of his baby girl and insisted on being interviewed with his wife: "We expected the child, according to the doctor, on 28 December, but she decided she would arrive on New Year's Day. Paris said: "I would like to say that we thank God, because if someone is born on 1 January, she is going to be first in everything, including at school. Even with challenges that will come, she will succeed in everything." Paris is a sergeant at the Mossel Bay Police Station.
Zozibini slept while she was being photographed, but had a regal, victorious look, even with her eyes closed.
Shaheeda Arries was equally delighted with her bundle of joy, a bouncing baby boy named Ethan, who was born at 17:40 on Christmas Day at the Provincial Hospital.
Ethan was animated and active and although newborns cannot smile yet, he appeared to be smiling. He is simply a friendly-looking chap. He is Shaheeda's second child. "He was booked for 27 December, but arrived on Christmas Day," Shaheeda said happily. She is married and a working mom.
