MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Residents and visitors to Mossel Bay are advised that due to tides (low tide at 06:25 and high tide at 12:25), the walk in Glentana starts at 06:30.
It is essential to allow enough time so that all walkers can complete the route before the tide is too high.
It is requested that participants please arrive at the starting point at 06:25 to start at 06:30.
This scenic circular route ends in the parking area in front of the Visgraat restaurant in Glentana. The route is best accessed at low tide.
There may be a few places where you have to climb over the rocks. The wreck, which is a popular landmark on the beach, is a 123m long lift ship weighing 4 500 tons that ran aground along Glentana beach in 1902. It ran aground after the tow rope of the steamship Baralong came loose during a towing operation from Durban to Cape Town. Three large pieces of the wreck are still visible today.
