They visited the Dias Museum gardens, where different plants and their purposes were explained to them.
According to Jenny Bunyan, vice-chair of the Mossel Bay Care Centre, the centre takes the children to the museum every year. "They learn a lot and enjoy knowing more about their heritage. Some of the children have never been to a museum, so it is an enriching experience for them." The Mossel Bay Care Centre also has an aftercare centre in Power town, which provides meals and care for 22 children. On Heritage Day, the children were spoilt with a hamburger braai on the beach and enjoyed activities such as soccer and volleyball.
The Mossel Bay Care Centre started 15 years ago and is dependent on local businesses and private individuals for funding.

The Ridgeway learners were entertained with dancing performances at the Dias Museum complex.
