MOSSEL BAY NEWS - It has come to the municipality’s attention that opportunistic imposters are posing to be water meter readers, and they are presumably doing so with ill intent.
Last week, it was reported to the municipality that unknown persons scout for houses where water meter readers have done their duty, only to enter the premises shortly afterwards.
When confronted, these perpetrators say they are municipal staff, there to do meter readings.
These suspicious characters wear yellow bibs, similar to those worn by the contracted meter readers from IKAPA, however they do not have the required identification cards.
IKAPA confirmed upon enquiry from the municipality, that its staff do not set foot on private property unless they identify themselves.
Residents are reminded that IKAPA meter readers will always have identification with them and if they don’t, they may be denied access to a property.
