MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Beachgoers in Mossel Bay were unfazed by shark warnings on the beach on Wednesday, 7 December, and hordes of people remained in the water even after a shark was spotted.
‘While observing the sharks today I noticed that the lifeguards raised the flags for sharks after one was spotted in the area, now I still see people swimming and giving the lifeguards a hard time for just doing their job,’ said photographer Christiaan Stopforth of Drone Fanatics SA.
‘That flag means that there is a shark in close proximity to the swimmers and should you go into the water you will be swimming at your own risk.’
Stopforth also shared images of a great white shark seen the day before in Hartenbos, not far from the shore. Beachgoers are strongly encouraged to heed shark warnings and stay out of the water when lifeguards report shark sightings.
