MOSSEL BAY NEWS - On Sunday 16 October, a wild fig tree at Milkwood Primary School near the Point in Mossel Bay was set alight, seemingly by vandals.
Small, exposed roots of the tree were set alight, according to Mossel Bay Municipality. The fire was quickly extinguished.
This comes shortly after an Australian wild fig on the corner of Church and High streets in the centre of town was damaged. Holes were made in that tree and seemingly, toxic fuel placed in the holes, to kill the tree.
Mossel Bay Advertiser reported on this last week..
The municipality appeals to members of the public to report damage to trees and plants. Call the municipality (044 606 5000) and you will be directed to the relevant department.
