MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Stefan and Abrie van der Berg of dia-LOGOS missionary organisation were delighted to be able to hand out gifts to residents and staff of Karos Haven, a home for seniors and the disabled in Mossel Bay, last week.
The Van der Berg couple, of Hartenbos Heuwels, thanked everyone who made the donation possible.
The Alzheimer's disease patients of Karos were given brand-new, warm winter dressing gowns, another garment each and "fidget bears". The bears give Alzheimer's patients something with which to occupy their hands. One also gets fidget blankets, which serve the same purpose.
Karos Haven is in 16th Avenue in Mossel Bay central.
Nineteen residents were treated and also, wrapped gifts were given to the 14 staff at the home.
Stefan said: "The donations came from people in the Garden Route. Some handed over dressing gowns and others gave money for the gowns to be bought."
He also thanked the ladies who knitted the fidget bears.
Abrie prepared eats for the residents and staff and other women in the community also made a contribution to the eats.
The handover and tea for the staff and residents took place on Thursday, 1 June.
Abrie said: "It was wonderful to see the residents' joy when they opened their gifts."
