MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Good news for jazz lovers is that the dates for the next MosJazz Festival have been announced.
This year began to the tunes of quality jazz performers when the MosJazz Fest took place at De Bakke beach and, likewise the year will play out with the mellow vibes of the MosJazz Festival from 28 November to 1 December.
The venue will again be the popular De Bakke / Santos beach and the festival is expected to attract approximately 2 500 people from across South Africa.
The previous successful event earlier this year was a success for organisers Camissa Solutions, who went out of their way to ensure that concerns about noise levels were addressed. Councillors heard that no complaints or negative feedback followed this event.
Mossel Bay Municipality approved the date for the next event at the monthly council meeting on Thursday, 25 April. The municipality will support the organisers with, among others, the necessary fencing to demarcate the festival arena, as well as refuse removal services, traffic control and beach cleaning as well as dedicated firefighter services.
The municipal manager was given the delegated authority to negotiate the required memorandum of understanding that will be entered into prior to the event.
It is expected that many of the MosJazz Festival goers will either camp at local caravan parks or make use of accommodation facilities in town for the duration of the festival, providing a welcome boost to tourism and the local economy.
