MOSSELBAAI NEWS - Da Gamaskop police opened a culpable homicide docket following the death of a 51-year-old man at Louis Fourie Road on Friday, 13 October at about 08:15.
According to Sergeant Christopher Spies, media liaison officer for the Southern Cape media centre, the information available at this stage indicates that two vehicles collided.
The driver of one of the vehicles, a Ford Ka, sustained multiple injuries. He was declared dead by paramedics on scene.
The two occupants of the other vehicle, a Toyota sedan, were also taken to hospital by ambulance.
Reports available indicate that a 10-year-old boy, who sustained serious injuries, and his grandmother, were admitted to a hospital in Mossel Bay for medical care.
The police also noted comments in which people speculate on the cause of the accident circulating on social media platforms. "These comments are insensitive and we urge the public to allow the police to investigate the matter," said Spies.
Investigation into this accident is at a very early stage and the cause forms part of the ongoing police investigation.
According to Spies, an autopsy to determine the cause of death will be conducted next week.
