MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Gaven Sinclair is an extreme professional adventurer and is currently running the 1 000km from Gqeberha to Cape Town unassisted with a 15kg backpack.
He is doing this to challenge South Africans who are living with chronic illness to change their lives one step at a time.
Sinclair partnered with Syntro-P Wellbeing to share a story of partnership and hope with the Heel2Heal Challenge.
He arrived in Mossel Bay on 18 October.
The Heel2Heal challenge is an unassisted solo run over harsh terrain and unpredictable climates but Gaven believes that we have many challenges in our daily lives, be it mental illness, heart conditions, diabetes or obesity, and all it takes is one small step a day to make the changes needed to live a life of wellness.
On 1 October, this extreme adventurer, life coach, motivational speaker and humanitarian activist embarked on the challenge. His goal is to run the 1000 kilometres in 30 days on or around the coastline.
The Syntro-P Wellbeing programme is a first of its kind for people diagnosed with chronic conditions which include diabetes, eating disorders, heart disease, obesity, asthma, hypertension and many more.
“We live in a world of challenges that create fear, segregation and separation. The programme has helped me to create harmony in my life and I am immensely proud to be taking the first step towards inspiring others to make their 1mm shifts on this journey to health,” says Sinclair.
He is no stranger to challenges. Sinclair is the recipient of the Purple Hearts SA 2019 Award, for his extreme courage to step out from his comfort zone in support of humanity, Sinclair rose to fame in 2017 when he cycled more than 10 000km from the Cape to Cairo.
He completed a 4 000km run across four African countries in 2018; a 5km swim from Ilha de Mozambique to Coral Lodge in 2019; and a 388km run along the coast of Mozambique in 2020. Sinclair left for Boggomsbaai on Monday, 18 October - Source: alertingthemedia.co.za and thegremlin.co.za.
