ELECTION NEWS - The newly-elected Western Cape Premier, Alan Winde, named his cabinet on Thursday, 23 May.
- Bonginkosi Madikizela is the MEC for Transport and Public Works. Madikizela was popular as MEC for human settlements and is the provincial leader of the DA in the Western Cape.
- Albert Fritz is the Community Safety MEC. Fritz, until recently, served as MEC for Social Development and is also the deputy leader of the Democratic Alliance in the Western Cape.
- Debbie Schafer and Nomafrench Mbombo remain in their respective portfolios of Education and Health.
- Ivan Meyer, the serving DA deputy federal chairman, is the new Agriculture MEC. He previously served as the Western Cape MEC of Finance. He holds a PhD in Public Administration from the University of Stellenbosch and used to be a senior lecturer in Public Policy and Local Governance at the University of Stellenbosch prior to being elected to the Provincial Legislature in April 2009.
- Sharna Fernandez is the new MEC for Social Development. Fernandez is a former banker who served as the Speaker of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament from 2014 to 2019. As a member of the Democratic Alliance, she also serves as chair of the Rules Committee.
- David Maynier is the new Finance MEC. He previously served as the Shadow Minister of Finance, Shadow Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, and Member of Parliament for the opposition Democratic Alliance.
- Tertius Simmers, a former committee chairman, is the new MEC for Human Settlements.
- Anroux Marais returns as MEC for Sport and Recreation.
- Anton Bredell returns as MEC for Local Government.
- Nomafrench Mbombo returns as Health MEC.
- Former Transport and Public Works MEC Donald Grant will be appointed as a special advisor to the premier. He previously served as Western Cape Provincial MEC of Transport and Public Works, Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament, Western Cape Provincial MEC of Education and councillor at the Bitou Municipality.
