Wine farmers are among those counting the costs of the drought.
Agriculture and Economic Opportunities MEC Alan Winde visited the Diemersfontein Wine Estate yesterday where harvesting was underway.
The scorching sun and ravaging fires have also had disastrous effects on agriculture across the country, including vineyards in the Western Cape.
Winde says there'll definitely be a drop in wine production this season.
“We know that the volumes are going be down. I've seen how the sun has actually really dried out some of the grapes.”
