High-profile guests at business conference

MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Mossel Bay Business Chamber will be holding a Business Opportunities Conference on Thursday, 1 September, and Friday, 2 September.

The conference will take place at the Diaz Strand Hotel and will include a gala function on the Friday evening.

This is an ideal opportunity for local businesses and other role players in the Mossel Bay economy to provide input to help compile a meaningful strategy for economic development in Mossel Bay.

Attendees will have the chance to identify opportunities to stimulate local economic growth and identify needs that must be met to retain local buying power.

In order to streamline the conference and make it as practical as possible, local business are requested to submit information on the following to admin@mosselbaychamber.co.za by 29 July:

• Future plans for your business
• Which other line of business you would explore if you could - your plan B.
• Any business you have come across in your travels that you think could work in the Mossel Bay area.
• Any product or service you purchase from outside of town that you believe could be provided here.
• Would you or your company be prepared to act as a mentor or sponsor for a potential entrepreneur or business person? What should the profile of such a person or business be?

• Any message you would like to convey to the business sector, local authority or community of Mossel Bay?

The conference will provide an ideal opportunity for networking and also for marketing of your business.

Topics on the agenda will include a presentation by a municipal representative on council’s short, medium and long-term plans for Mossel Bay. Other topics to be addressed will be: agriculture, tourism, petroleum/gas and development of the harbour.

High-profile journalist and presenter on radio and television, Freek Robinson, has been chosen to convene the conference and outspoken veteran journalist Max du Preez is one of the speakers.

The main sponsors of the conference so far are the Mossel Bay Advertiser, Mossel Bay Municipality, Tsogo Sun Garden Route Casino and PetroSA. There are still attractive sponsorship and marketing opportunities available for companies who may be interested.
