Update
KAROO NEWS - Sections of Meiringspoort are open but the TR33/4 is still being monitored.
The plan to open the road is as follows:
- Last drift towards Klaarstroom is still overtopping a small amount, risk for aquaplaning at high speed remains.
- Speed reduction signs will be installed.
- Traffic Officials are stationed from now through the night to ensure slow and safe passage.
Work continues today and tomorrow in an attempt to open the waterway to enable water to go under the roadway.
The rest of Meiringspoort is open, but still wet and possibly slippery, road users to proceed with caution.
