Nege-en-twintig dae nadat vier plaaslike inwoners letterlik 'n marathonmaand aangepak het om geld vir liefdadigheid in te samel, het die twee egpare betrokke op Maandag, 2 Mei net voor 09:00 hul laaste kilometers voltooi. 'n Duisend kilopmeter is kafgedraf. Lukas en Christa Smith, saam met Lourens en Elma Nel het met 'n groot gejuig die projek voltooi. Die twee vroue het gedraf en gestap, terwyl die manne op hul fietse meegedoen het.
