MOSSEL BAY NEWS - ReedValley's One night in Portugal on Saturday, 28 October was a highly successful, sold-out event.
The Consul General of Portugal, Dr Jose Arsenio; Mossel Bay deputy mayor Dirk Kotzé; director of Corporate Services Edward Jantjies; Commodore of the Royal Cape Yacht Club Vitor Medina; and several other Portuguese and South African dignitaries attended this cultural evening.
After a few short words by the dignitaries and the exchanging of gifts, the evening began with the serving of authentic Portuguese cuisine prepared by three internationally acclaimed Portuguese chefs.
The chefs were also on hand to explain the cultural significance of each dish and its importance to the Portuguese people.
Guests were served bacalhau (codfish), seafood rice, espetada and peri-peri chicken to name a few.
After the serving of dessert - which was a Portuguese custard tart called pastel de nata, the festivities moved into a higher gear.
Kanimambo, a seven-piece Portuguese band from Cape Town, performed a spectacular music show featuring several Portuguese and South African hit songs, and the dance floor was packed throughout the night.
