MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Mossel Bay Arts Society has a wonderful line-up of concerts.
On Thursday, 17 March, two sought-after German musicians will be gracing the stage at the Dias Museum.
The Karlsruhe Konzert-Duo, consisting of cellist Reinhard Armleder and Dagmar Hartmann on piano, will be delighting the audience with a balanced programme, ranging in intensity, with works from Beethoven, Schumann, Strauss and Gershwin. It will be a feel-good, classical affair.
The duo has been in existence since 1998. These two artists have won multiple international music awards for their charming interpretations, brilliant technique and imaginative programmes.
Bookings - at R150 for the general public, R130 for members of the Mossel Bay Arts Society and R30 for learners - are essential and can be made by contacting 064 963 9962. The concert starts at 19:30 and doors open at 18:30.
Despite the two years of paralysing protocols as a result of the pandemic, the arts society managed to bring a range of successful, feel-good concerts which alleviated some of the stresses suffered during the gloomy Covid months.
The music calendar for this year is also bulging and, apart from the concert mentioned above, the society is delighted to announce that Charl du Plessis will be performing alongside the Odeion String Quartet on 14 April.
"This is a real coup for the society and reward for its dedication to bringing city-like treats to our shores," a society spokesperson said.
"Other big news is that we are negotiating to bring Cape Town Opera - a choir of 18 professional singers - to Mossel Bay later this year. Other big names to light up our stage include Niël Rademan, Elna van der Merwe, Piet de Beer, James Grace, David Bester, Adam Campbell, Peter Cartwright and Jonathan Moolman.
"And then, to end the spectacular 2022 music season, there will be a special concert featuring top-notch local musicians.
"For lovers of fine music it is a boon to join the arts society as a member. For a mere R150 per year, members qualify for a discounted ticket fare. Membership can be organised at concerts," the spokesperson concluded.
