MOSSEL BAY ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - It takes knowing your music and matching it to a crowd to be considered a successful DJ.
Local DJs went the extra mile last weekend to do their bit for the morale of Mossel Bay.
On Saturday, 25 September, the DJs, in collaboration with a local sound and staging company, hosted a Heritage Day event at the Kwano Business Park.
To show their appreciation for South Africa's diverse heritage, they created an event catering for young and old and all races. According to Jade Fillies, a member of the group, the intention was to boost the shops in the business park financially.
Fillies says the group of DJs was established recently, not only to entertain the community, but to play an active role in reaching out to those in need.
"This was our launch event," says Fillies.
A total of 11 DJs entertained the crowd of 200 from 11:00 to 20:00.

Artists included Gift Gwe, Davene Anderson, Zachary Saal and Farren Jacobs. Comedian Moses Williams was the MC.
During the potjiekos competition, Megan Fillies and Shantol Malgas made a statement with the superb biltong potjie.
"The Mossel Bay DJ community thanks each participant, entertainer and everyone who made the day a success. This was our way of showing the community we care and want to give back," said Ivan October, one of the founding members of the Mossel Bay DJ Community.
"We thank the Mossel Bay Municipality, which allowed us to host this event. Harmony Sounds, the sound company, also sponsored without hesitation."

The Mossel Bay DJ Community has made it part of its vision, in reaction to the adverse economic effect of Covid-19, to help local businesses draw customers, through music.
"Many of our members were also hit hard by the pandemic. We are planning to visit all the struggling charities and assist, where needed," said Fillies. For more information, contact Fillies (073 663 8936).
