SNOOKER NEWS - Five players from the Southern Cape represented the Western Cape Blackball pool team that participated in the 2022 national interprovincial championships in Durban from Sunday 16 to Saturday 22 October.
All five players are police officers from the Southern Cape who serve within the Garden Route District.
They are Detective Sgt Donovan Geswindt from Da Gamaskop, Sgt Leroy Swart from the Conville crime prevention unit, Sgt Beryl Mintoor from the Riversdal Visible Police (Vispol), Capt Malcolm Pojie from the Southern Cape Media Centre and WO Deon Floris from George Vispol.
The Western Cape almost made a clean sweep with being crowned the overall winners and champions for 2022.
The A and B teams (men) ended in second and third places respectively, with the ladies team achieving a strong second overall position.
The men's A and B teams were also placed first and second in the Speedball competition on the first day.
Swart ended first after a sterling performance, Floris was placed seventh, Geswindt 10th and Mintoor 10th (ladies).
They were all selected to represent the SAPS National Blackball team at the 2023 National Championships of the South African Blackball Federation that will be held in Saldanha Bay.
