GARDEN ROUTE CRICKET NEWS - The Six Gun Grill SWD Women reached a significant milestone last weekend when they defeated Boland in both the Limited over and Twenty20 fixtures of the Cricket South Africa Provincial Women's Competition.
The matches were contested at Coetzenburg in Stellenbosch.
The SWD Women (103/2) recorded an eight-wicket bonus point victory against Boland (102 all out) in the limited-over match after they reached the winning target in the 30th over.
Haroline Rhodes (2/17), Micaela Andrews (2/27) and Marnizelle Rabie (2/34) all produced high bowling performances while an unbeaten 81 runs partnership between Mochelle May (42*) and Miceala Andrews (30*) steered SWD to victory.
The SWD Women (winners of Pool A) in the process concluded their season unbeaten in both the limited-over and T20 formats and will now again have the opportunity to qualify for the Super League of six teams in a play-off match against the winners of Pool B.
The winner of this match will be promoted to the Super League. Last season the SWD Women lost in the play-off match for promotion, and they will be desperate to improve on this.
In the T20 match SWD posted 104/4 in their allotted 20 overs and thereafter dismissed Boland for 83 for a 21-run victory.
