CRICKET NEWS - The Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers Women’s team will have a tough assignment in the Top 6 competition of the Cricket South Africa provincial women’s competition this weekend.
They travel to Cape Town, where they take on undefeated log leaders Western Province at Newlands tomorrow, Saturday 22 October, in a limited overs match and Sunday, in a Twenty20 match.
The Momentum Proteas National contracted player, Tazmin Brits, will be out of action for six weeks after she broke her finger during the Proteas training camp last week. This is a massive setback for the team. Bianca Figeland replaces Brits.
The Badgers are determined to record their first victory in the one-day competition after they failed to put away the opposition after being in a favourable position in their opening matches against the Titans and Lions respectively.
The squad for the weekend is Haroline Rhodes (captain), Bianca Figeland, Mochelle May, Amber Botha, Sibongiseni Ndunana, Annerie Dercksen, Julandi Saayman, Micaéla Andrews, Mieke de Ridder, Jané Winster, Khayakazi Mathe, Marnazelle Rabie and Mariana Breedt.
