NATIONAL NEWS - Polokwane– Two young boys from ga-Mamadila village within the Seshego Policing areas are expected to appear in the Seshego Magistrate’s Court soon in connection with the murder of an 11-year-old boy from the same village.
The body of Tibane Mahanyele was found at an adjacent village on Tuesday, 23 March, and according to Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo the suspects had reportedly ‘lured the victim’ to where he was killed.
“It is alleged the suspects had invited the deceased to a soccer match at the neighbouring Makweya village on Monday, 22 March. When the child did not return home that evening, his family reported him missing at the Seshego Police Station and a search operation was launched.”
Initial investigations led the police to the minors who were found in the possession of the deceased’s cellphone.
“Further probe led the police to the location where they found the body of the 11-year-old boy.”
The two boys, both aged 15, were taken into custody. Mojapleo says the suspects will be subjected to assessments by the probation officer and then appear in court.
Acting Provincial Police Commissioner, Maj Genl Samuel Manala has expressed his shock and disbelief, especially considering the age of both suspects. He appealed to the community to remain calm and let the police conduct their investigations.
