Death toll in Tshwane unrest rises to 5

NATIONAL NEWS - The death toll in the Tshwane unrest has now risen to five after two more bodies were discovered in Mabopane today.

Police say one of the bodies was found inside the Mabopane central city shopping centre and the other at a house nearby which was looted overnight.

Tshwane was hit by protests this week after the announcement of former Public Works Minister Thoko Didiza as the African National Congress (ANC)'s mayoral candidate for the metro.
 
Residents in Hammanskraal, Mamelodi and Atteridgeville are among the people calling for current mayor Kgosientso Ramokgopa to be retained.

The police's Noxolo Kweza said, “I can confirm that two bodies were found this morning and we haven’t arrested anybody and our investigations are continuing.”
