MOSSEL BAY NEWS - This past long weekend saw the first ever Mr Commonwealth South Africa finalist from Mossel Bay, Vuyo Mfumbe host a delightful fundraiser.
The event, on Women's Day on Friday, 9 August, which was a public holiday, was sponsored by the Bravo Lounge and Garden Route Casino.
The finalists in this competition had to raise R20 000 in sponsorship money over a period of five months. Their campaign also included doing charity work in their residential areas. On his journey Vuyo also worked with the Creating Effective Families shelter for abused women and children, donating much-needed food supplies.
"I am using this platform to touch many lives. I consider myself an ordinary person doing extraordinary deeds. The fundraising show on Women's Day honoured women, with local artists and models performing."
These included Gemini Models, Mossel Bay Models, Edinia, MBS Records and more. Vuyisile Mabitle and Chuma Fumile were hosts at the show.
Vuyo also hosted his campaign against the abuse of women and children. "#Every child is my child and it takes a village to raise a child. The show was highly emotive and touching. The make-up for the abuse campaign was done by artist, Meryl Brown."
