Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - No foul play is suspected with regards to the fire which gutted Mikeva Hyper in Mossel Bay last week.
This is according to police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies.
An arson docket was opened at Da Gamaskop Police Station shortly after the fire, to investigate whether the fire was owing to arson or whether there was another cause.
Spies said a team of police forensics laboratory investigators from Cape Town conducted an investigation on the scene shortly after the fire.
Mikeva Hyper, on the corner of Louis Fourie Road and Mossel Street in Mossel Bay, was gutted by the blaze on Tuesday, 27 May.
Spies noted to Mossel Bay Advertiser today that the exact cause of the fire was yet to be determined as the investigation was not yet complete. However, Spies added that at this stage in the investigation, no foul play was suspected.
He said the investigators' report would form part of the ongoing police investigation and that results noted in the report would determine the cause of the blaze.
The Mikeva site has been secured to prevent entry by the general public.
