MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management is at the scene of a structure fire at Mikeva Hyper in Mossel Bay.
The Mossel Bay Municipality warned road users and pedestrians in the area of Mikeva, on the corner of Louis Fourie Road and Mossel Street, to be cautious in the area due to heavy smoke.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.

There have been enquiries as to whether Hillcrest Secondary School, near Mikeva, will evacuate, due to the fire. Mossel Bay Advertiser asked the headmaster, Viverick Slater, about this at 11:15. He said: "Not at this point in time. We have not been given any instruction to evacuate. Classes are continuing."

Several road closures and traffic diversions are being put in place due to the fire fighting operations at Mikeva Hyper.Mossel Bay Municipality said:
* Road closure and traffic diversion: Kiewiet and Mossel Street. Traffic is being diverted back to Louis Fourie Road, De Bakke.
* Road closure and traffic diversion: Traffic on Louis Fourie Road, incoming is being diverted to Essenhout Street Heiderand; traffic outgoing is being diverted to Schoeman Street.
