MOSSEL BAY NEWS - One person was injured in the fire that broke out at the popular wholesaler in Mossel Bay, Mikeva Hyper.
The fire started after 10:00 according to the Mossel Bay Municipality, whose Fire and Rescue Services are at the scene.
The municipality noted that all 154 employees were safely evacuated.
Chief fire officer Joseph Johnston said the fire was contained at 11:52, “thanks to the coordinated efforts of multiple services”.
He said one adult female suffered burn injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.
Firefighting operations are ongoing, as crews work to extinguish lingering hotspots and prevent any flare-ups.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation and authorities have not yet determined the extent of the damage to the Mikeva Hyper facility.
