Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The case against the man accused of raping male Ext 8 dog Caesar in June is now set to be heard in the Mossel Bay Regional Court.
The 22-year-old made a brief appearance in the Mossel Bay Magistrate’s Court this morning, 28 August, when his matter was postponed to the regional court for 29 September.
He was arrested shortly after the incident was reported to the Da Gamaskop Police Station on 16 June, and he made his first court appearance two days later, when he was released on a warning.
The accused last appeared in court on 17 July; however, the matter was postponed to today pending forensic evidence and outstanding statements.
Several members of the Garden Route SPCA Mossel Bay branch and some supporters stood outside the court this morning with posters advocating against animal abuse.
One supporter even commissioned the printing of a large banner displaying photos of Caesar and calling for justice for the hound.
